Important Information

Name Badge
All participants must wear the Conference identification badge in a visible place. Entrance to meeting halls, poster and exhibition areas will not be permitted to any person without a badge. 

Airport Transportation

Bus service: Transit bus service is provided between the Airport and the city of Kos, via Mastichari village. There is a public bus stop 50m from the terminal building. Tickets can be purchased by the bus driver. One way ticket: € 3,20.
Be sure to have some cash in hand, credit card will not be accepted probably.

Taxis: Taxis can be found outside Kos airport. An average journey by taxi to KICC or your hotel will take approximately 40 minutes, and the cost is around 40€ – 50€.

Welcome Desk at the Airport

A EUSIPCO 2017 hospitality desk will be operated at the Kos airport arrivals hall during airport busy times on Sunday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Aug. 28. Look for the sign with the EUSIPCO logo on it. Our volunteers will assist you with any information and guidance you many need.

Public Buses – Kos city

Kos Municipality provides free rides on the city bus service (KTEL) to all EUSIPCO participants wearing their badge. You must show your conference badge to the driver. The time table of the bus line that takes you from KICC Conference centre to Kos city centre is found at: http://www.ktel-kos.gr/site_en/ktel-kos-local-bus-schedules. Venue – Kos International Convention Centre  –  KICC

Situated only 2.5 km from Kos city center, the Kos International Convention Centre (KICC) is an autonomous three-level modern conference centre. The venue is adjacent to Kipriotis Village Hotel – the biggest hotel of the Kipriotis group – and only a breath away from the other four Kipriotis Hotels. KICC is only 3,5 km away from Kos city centre, in an area called Psalidi.

Registration Hours

The conference registration desk will be located at Kos International Convention Centre (KICC) at Level 1, on Sunday August 27, and will move to Level 0 from Monday on. A travel desk will also operate during the same hours. You may purchase your airport return ticket, book an excursion, ask about restaurants, and other related services.

Proceedings

EUSIPCO 2017 proceedings will be given in a USB memory stick to all registered participants at the time of registration. If the User interface doesn’t pop up automatically when the USB memory stick is inserted, use the "Index.html" link  to start navigating.  

Oral Presentations – Audiovisual Equipment

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any paper scheduled for oral presentation shall occupy a slot of 20 minutes. Presentations should last no longer than 16 minutes. An additional 3 minutes are allocated for questions followed by 1 minute for speaker changes.  Session chairs will enforce the schedule. All oral presentation rooms will be equipped with laptop computers running Microsoft Windows 10 and MS Office. Presentations must be prepared in either Microsoft Powerpoint or PDF format. Presenters should arrive no less than 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of their session to upload their presentation to the laptop computer through a USB port.

Poster Presentations
Posters must be prepared for presentation on boards measuring 1,42m wide by 1,07m high, (landscape format). The maximum print size of the poster (landscape mode) should be the following: Width: 120 cm (ca  47 inches)  Height: 90 cm (ca 35 inches). Posters should be attached to the presentation boards no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled session.  Posters should remain in place for the full session duration and then removed no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled end time. Means to attach posters to presentation boards will be provided.

Exhibition
An exhibition will be located at level 0 of the Conference Venue from Tuesday, August 28, to Saturday, September 2. This year’s exhibiting companies and organisations are: MathWorks, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier and Springer.

Lunch
Lunch is not included in the conference registration. The conference venue has offered special lunch prices for full lunch buffet at € 18 and lunch packet at €10. Tickets are sold via the online registration system and at the registration desk during our conference days. Make sure to purchase your tickets from the day before to avoid queues.

Liability and Insurance
The organisers have no responsibility whatsoever for any injury or damage involving persons and property during the Conference. Participants are advised to arrange for their own personal insurance to cover their stay in Greece.

Banks & Currency
Greece is a full member of the European Monetary Union, thus its currency is the Euro. Most banks are open Monday to Thursday from 08:00 am to 02:30 pm and Friday from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm. They are closed on weekends and public holidays. ATMs are to be found in the city centre and most hotels. An ATM is found at the Kipriotis Village Resort Hotel.

Shopping
Shops open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 09:00 – 14:30 and on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 – 21:00. Kos has tourist markets where shops are open all day, 7 days a week, so the above schedule is approximate.

Tipping
For taxis and restaurants, the service charge is included in the price. You may add a tip at your own discretion to indicate appreciation of exceptionally good service.

Climate and Clothing
During August, the weather is pleasantly warm during the whole day, but for all evening outdoor events, a light sweater may prove useful. Temperature ranges from 22-35°C.

Social Events
We tried to enhance the 25th edition of EUSIPCO 2017 program with events that will expose our participants and their accompanying friends and family members, to the Greek traditions and life style. You will have the opportunity to join the EUSIPCO bicycle run, learn how to cook Tzatziki salad, mousaka, and baklava, learn how to dance popular Greek dances – Zorba the Greek is one of them, enjoy Greek folklore dances during the Welcome Reception, participate in the "Greek Glenti" during our Conference Banquet, and attend a sophisticated Concert with tenor singer Alexandra Gravas.
